There are so many reasons to be excited about Plymouth in 2017! If you are a resident then the annual events calendar provides monthly treats and if you live further afield we have so many reasons for you to plan a trip to Britain’s Ocean City!

Just to tease, some of our favourite family events include Flavour Fest (Fri 2nd June – Sun 4th June), Armed Forces Day (Sat 24th June) and the annual British Firework Championships (Wed 9th & Thurs 10th August) for lucky residents this is right on your doorstep! For those further away it is definitely worth travelling and now is the perfect time to start planning. For a full list of Plymouth events across the year, please visit our events page which is updated daily.

We will be showcasing several spectacular events on a regular basis. First up is Pirate Weekend on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th May!

This award winning, fantastic family event takes place all around Sutton Harbour and the Barbican. Established in 2011 it has grown every year. People of all ages set sail for the Barbican where there are a sea of pirates including Plymouth’s very own Jonty Depp! Fancy dress is encouraged and with so many people getting involved it is great fun for all the family.

Last year saw a whale next to the Boathouse Café where you could go inside and explore, there was face painting, stalls, sea shanty’s, Pirate school, canon firing, Mermaid school and so much more – the event schedule was jam packed from 10am – 4pm on both days with competitions and a fantastic food offer from all of the local restaurants and cafes.

Thank you to Plymouth City Council Events team and One Plymouth for providing the following photos. The team at One Plymouth have several volunteer photographers who work to showcase Plymouth events.
