April Wagner Hair – Supplier Love

We have been working with the lovely April from April Wagner Hair for the past couple of years and always love the styles she creates. April enjoys coming up with ideas and creating beautiful looks for brides – the results are always stunning!

I think I have always had a really good flair for all aspects of arts, crafts and creativity. Whilst I was at school, those were the lessons I loved and knew I wanted to go further with in my later life. I had the ambition to go to London and study ‘Hair and makeup for TV, Film & Theatre’ and of course like every teenager, thought that to work on celebrities would be absolutely amazing.

I have always been very independent and have known what I wanted, so I took myself off around the age of 14/15 with my CV and got myself a Saturday and Sunday job in ‘Vaughan’s Total Indulgence’ in Plymouth city centre. I loved it there; they offered me an apprenticeship and before I knew it I had left school. After I qualified, I moved once or twice to a few large, high-end city centre salons, experiencing different ways of working, meeting lots of very talented stylists and I found my flair for hair styling. I have grown to love this line of work the most.

Weddings, photo shoots, proms and occasions are always such a delight to be part of. I love the feeling of making someone feel confident and look a million dollars.

I prefer to meet a bride for a trial before her wedding, primarily so that I can get a feel of her personality, find out what she does and doesn’t like and also to make sure the bride is at complete ease with my ability to create the look she would like for her ‘big day’. I never rush this part of a wedding package, this is actually one of the most important parts of my job. I will ask lots of question, maybe show some images of the ideas or looks I have created before or look elsewhere for other ideas. Between us we can choose a look to try first, obviously it’s amazing if we get the WOW factor straight away, but if we don’t, we can rethink and keep trying different options until we do. I don’t settle for, ‘Yeah that’s nice!’

Once we have chosen the look the bride would like, I always take photos, finalise any formalities, check timings and location details are correct. This stops any worry, and we are all set for a smooth and stress-free wedding day.

I love my business how it stands, but the more weddings and happy occasions I could be part of, the happier I’ll be. My aim is to always succeed, be creative and make people smile.

I’m happy to work alone, but equally delighted to work alongside any other creative people: hairstylists, makeup artist, designers etc. to share ideas and create the best results we possibly can between us.
