Sequins, Sashes and Showstopping Stationery!!

We were one of almost a hundred fabulous businesses to exhibit at The Big Day Wedding Show at Plymouth Pavilions on Sunday 19th Feb – and what a day it was! We were privileged to be situated at the heart of the arena, directly in front of the catwalk. We wanted our space to look less like a traditional exhibition, but more like a ‘Mini Duke’, which is what we set out to create! Our 3D logo was positioned elegantly above us, which meant that we were visible from every angle of the arena and ready to greet couples!

For a dream wedding, collaboration is key and we pride ourselves on working with the very best wedding suppliers in the South West. Our ‘Mini Duke’ showcased this as we partnered with Cut Me Off a Slice, Anon Design, Flourish, The Perfect Package and the Pretty Accessory.

Cut Me Off a Slice provided a stunning new cake design for our central table, the main cake stood alongside two miniature cakes plus some cupcake spheres and some delicately iced biscuits which make the perfect favours. We also had the best freebies in the form of 100 cupcakes, with four flavours our couples were in for a treat! As a team we did sample a few, just to make sure!! The utterly stunning three-tiered cake, coordinated perfectly with our stationery which was created by Anon Design. The gorgeous bespoke designs featured menu’s, place cards and table numbers in watercolour pastel pink with gold font and pale blue, they were loved by many couples who fell in love with the designs. To add that extra sparkle, Michelle from The Pretty Accessory styled the tables in champagne sequin table cloths which accentuated the décor perfectly. Our candelabras took centre stage, which were set off by beautiful silk flowers in pale, dusky pinks and cream provided by Flourish. The final touch was added by The Perfect Package who dressed the chairs with crisp white covers and pale peach sashes in silk and organza – one bride was delighted as it was her exact colour scheme!

Thank you so much to everyone who worked with us to make our stand look so amazing, it really added a touch of glamour at the centre of the arena and shows how many people it takes to make a dream wedding come together.

We were also delighted to see old friends and meet new potential partners. Antony Chapman was the Master of Ceremonies and it was a pleasure to see him do his thing on stage – such professionalism and a joy to work with.

The room was filled with laughter and excitement as couples accompanied by their friends and family filled the arena. We met lots of newly engaged couples who were all at different stages of the wedding planning process and provided them with details of what we can offer. The feedback on the décor was amazing and really helped couples to visualise what their big day could look like at The Duke. We offered exclusive tours of the hotel throughout the day which was dressed for a wedding, giving couples the perfect chance to see the venue for themselves.

There were several live performances throughout the day including magic by the wonderful Dan Brazier, who we have worked with on several occasions. For us, the highlight of the day has to be the two catwalk shows, which were timed perfectly with music and complimented by atmospheric lighting, making the Pavilions arena the perfect stage! An array of bridal shops and boutiques showcased their stunning gowns, bridesmaid dresses and groomswear in a fun and exciting way that had everyone gathered around to enjoy. Silver confetti showered the models, twinkling as it fell creating a truly magical end to the show.

As a unique venue it felt important for us to showcase the Duke in a unique way! For our couples, anything is possible and our dedicated team will always go the extra mile to make your dream wedding a reality.

If you came along, we hope you had a wonderful time and left with all the inspiration you need for your big day! If you are yet to book your venue, make sure you put Thursday 16th March in your diary for The Duke Mini Wedding Collection! This is an exclusive event for couples who are yet to find their dream venue and is the perfect opportunity to come and have a look at the hotel and ask any questions. Registration is essential on Eventbrite.

If you are unable to make this date, please email Toni, our Wedding Co-ordinator who will be more than happy to give you a tour: t.sharpe@thedukeofcornwall.co.uk at a time to suit you.
