Titanic Exhibition

Friday 22nd April, 2016|Category: News
We are looking forward to welcoming Nigel Voisey to The Duke of Cornwall Hotel on the 24th April to talk about and exhibit many artefacts and ephemera associated with the Titanic and White Star Line, all assembled by Nigel himself. He will be giving presentations throughout the day to share his knowledge about this terrible event and the links to Plymouth. "When we first met with Nigel, Jon Morcom (Director) and I were captivated by his knowledge of the Titanic and the significant link to Plymouth. His information on how the Duke played her part was incredible and gave both of us a real moment thinking about how the crew had stayed at the hotel after ...

Wedding Magic at The Duke

Thursday 21st April, 2016|Category: News
The 19th of April saw The Duke collaborate with some of the amazing talent in the local area to create our latest stylised wedding shoot. Think Audrey, think 1950's...! The day was filled with creative, passionate people, who love all things weddings, joining together to create another beautiful showcase of all The Duke can offer to potential couples considering getting married at the hotel. Capturing the day we had the talented Photographer Toby Lowe and we also were delighted to have Baxter and Ted on hand to record a film on their many nifty cameras. It is always so wonderful to watch people who are passionate about what they do at work. They will do whatever it takes to get the perfect shot and they did. Predominantly based in ...

They were met by our front of house team with a glass of champagne and escorted to The Lounge, where they were able to relax in our comfy Chesterfield sofas. All before being whisked off ...

Live Concert Series: Sehyogue Aulakh

Wednesday 13th April, 2016|Category: News
Today, as part of the Jeanie Moore concert series, we welcomed Sehyogue Aulakh to The Duke of Cornwall Hotel. This 14 year old girl (yes 14!) is a student at Wells Cathedral School studying as a specialist percussionist. Music is a great passion of hers and having played piano from a young age she has recently turned to percussion; with a particular love of tuned percussion. We had 10 minutes with her over a cup of tea before her performance to say good luck and get to know this astonishingly talented girl; The Marimba is such a beautiful instrument but there are so many percussion instruments to choose from, why this one? It's a long story...when I was younger I played the piano and then Viola. I ...
