A Magical Christmas in Plymouth

Christmas in Plymouth is bigger and better than ever before! Have you visited the Christmas Market yet? Don’t fret, there is still plenty of time to purchase those personal gifts as it is open until 21st December. Santa’s Grotto at Drake Circus and the Christmas Land Train are both running until Christmas Eve, with the fabulous Nutcracker Trail continuing until 2nd Jan, the perfect activity to entertain the family and get some fresh air. And of course there is also the Snowflake Trail! We are thrilled to be part of it again this year. It runs until 7th January and there are some brilliant prizes to be won, including Tea at the Top, here at the hotel.

Barbican Christmas Carol Tour – 9th and 10th December

Experience the classic tale ‘A Christmas Carol’ as the UnTamed Theatre bring the Dicken’s story to life. Follow Ebenezer Scrooge through the winding streets as he uncovers his Christmas Past, Present and Future – with the help of some unsuspecting characters…

Santa Fun Run - 10th December

This event will see hundreds of Father Christmas’ make their way through #Plymouth city centre in a bid to raise funds for fantastic local charities! The money raised will be donated to Dame Hannah Rogers and Jeremiah’s Journey, two organisations that make a big different to local people. We’d like to wish everyone luck and if you’re in town this weekend it is definitely worth seeing the huge number of Santa’s as they run through the streets of Britain’s Ocean City.

Good Food Market at Royal William Yard - 10th December

The second of the yard’s festive food markets featuring a fantastic range of local produce including Turkey, Mince Pies and all the trimmings. We went last week and you can literally eat your way around some delicious stalls and buy the most beautiful unique gifts!

A Christmas Carol - 14 December to 7 January

For the theatre lovers amongst you, take a trip to the Plymouth Athenaeum for a wonderful production of A Christmas Carol. After the sell-out successes of The Jungle Book, Robin Hood & His Merry Men, and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Barbican Theatre and Le Navet Bete are excited to present their latest co-produced Christmas show, a joyful, comic re-telling of Dickens’

Wonder Nights Segway Experience - 15th December – 3rd January

Take a trip to Mount Edgcumbe for a festive Segway adventure like no other! There’s no better way to get in the Christmas spirit than a visit to Wonder Nights! We’ve donned our festive best to make this year a real cracker! Experience a unique seasonal celebration like no other and lose yourself in a flurry of festive fun.

All aboard the North Pole Express - 16th - 20th December

Travel to the North Pole, meet Father Christmas, take photos in the snow, watch children open presents and have festive fun with us. This is the North Pole Express by the Plym Valley Railway.

Peter Pan – 15th December - 13th January

Peter Pan is coming to the Theatre Royal Plymouth this Christmas!! With amazing special effects, plenty of laughter and some famous faces, this is sure to be one to remember!

Native Makers Market – 16th and 17th December

On Dec 16 & 17 Ocean Studios will also be throwing open the doors with the ultra-hip Native Makers locally sourced creative market. Market go-ers will also be able to explore the creative goings-on at Ocean Studios, which provides affordable studios and workshop facilities for talented artists. We can’t wait for this one!

Festive Good Food Market – 17th December

The special Christmas Good Food Market will feature a festive singalong on the Green, accompanied by local school children and choirs, kicking off at 3:30pm. This is the final market and we are sure it will be a good one!
