Plymouth is Illuminated for Thanksgiving

Thursday 24th November 2016
From: 4:45 pm

Having attended last year, we cannot wait for what promises to be a memorable event with a visually stunning parade for all of the family. Children of all ages (and parents too) have been getting creative and making their own colourful lanterns to carry in the parade tomorrow!

Join the gathering crowds this Thursday at the Illuminate and Thanksgiving event as it continues the official countdown to the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower sailing in 2020.

A performance by the Mayflower 400 Legacy Choir kicks off the evening’s event at the Mayflower Steps, followed by Illuminate and Thanksgiving speeches.

The Illuminate lantern, costume and theatre parade will depart from Commercial Wharf, led by the Weapons of Sound Samba band, making it’s way to the Plymouth Guildhall where spectators will be treated to an illuminated projection show.

Illuminate and Thanksgiving provides inspirational, inclusive and creative opportunities for children, young people and communities. It connects Plymouth to the other Mayflower compact partner locations in the UK, Holland and Plymouth, Massachusetts who will also be holding Illuminate events.

Don’t miss this truly unforgettable evening!
