Plymouth Art Weekender

Thursday 6th September, 2018|Category: News

With just over three weeks to go, we are very excited for the highly anticipated Plymouth Art Weekender to commence. An exciting array of events, exhibitions, talks and workshops are set to take place across 63 fantastic venues in Plymouth, including the hotel! We will be sharing some of our favourites each week, although with over 100 to choose from, this may be easier said than done!

We have loved hosting Laura Denning with the Hydrosapien rehearsals in our Ballroom over the past month. Guests can look forward to a collaborative performance which pushes the boundaries of how sound can be understood, whilst exploring ideas of Hydrofeminism. The first performance will take place on Friday evening – the choir will perform as part of The Atlantic Project’s launch event at the Guildhall and then on Saturday they will reassemble on the waterfront at Commercial Wharf to perform Laura’s specially adapted text about the fundamental relationship between water and humankind. We look forward to seeing all of their hard work come together.

The lovely Sarah Scaife will be showcasing her exhibition, entitled Championship (farewell EU) at the hotel. Head to our Millbay Room for drawings, prints and conversation on the brink of leaving the EU. To read more about this fascinating display, click here to visit Sarah’s website.

For those of you who are travelling to the city for Plymouth Art Weekender, the hotel has 72 individually styled bedrooms to choose from, call our reception team on 01752 275850 to enquire about our exclusive accommodation rates. Following a busy day in Britain’s Ocean City, return to the hotel for a delicious dinner in our Two AA Rosette Restaurant.

The Duke of Cornwall Hotel is committed to the environment and our sustainability, we are members of Green Tourism and encourage all of our guests and staff to join our journey.
