Titanic Exhibition

Friday 22nd April, 2016|Category: News

Untitled designWe are looking forward to welcoming Nigel Voisey to The Duke of Cornwall Hotel on the 24th April to talk about and exhibit many artefacts and ephemera associated with the Titanic and White Star Line, all assembled by Nigel himself. He will be giving presentations throughout the day to share his knowledge about this terrible event and the links to Plymouth.

“When we first met with Nigel, Jon Morcom (Director) and I were captivated by his knowledge of the Titanic and the significant link to Plymouth. His information on how the Duke played her part was incredible and gave both of us a real moment thinking about how the crew had stayed at the hotel after going through such a haunting experience.”
Walter Combstock, Managing Director, Duke of Cornwall Hotel

Untitled design (1)“Nigel has created such excitement; he’s had this personal passion and enthusiasm for this story. Survivors came back to the Duke of Cornwall and stayed in one of our rooms, when I think about those women lying there that night with everything that they had been through it gives me goosebumps. This exhibition was going to be in one of our function rooms but the interest we’ve had has been so huge we’ve moved it to the Ballroon. There’s been no paid promotion, this just seems to be a story people connect with and want to know more about. Thank you to everyone who has shared this event!”

Leila Nottage, Marketing Manager, Duke of Cornwall Hotel

It promises to be a fascinating exhibition, once again highlighting the links between Plymouth, New York and the USA.

Untitled design (16)“I haven’t done this by myself, without the hotel’s support I wouldn’t have been able to do this and I can’t imagine putting on this exhibition anywhere else.”
Nigel Voisey
