A Marriage of Ideas at The Duke

Friday 8th September, 2017|Category: News

Getting married is one of life’s profound moments of union. But a successful wedding day involves another kind of union too – the collaboration of diverse wedding suppliers to make it all happen.

A recent styled wedding shoot at the hotel was an exquisite illustration of how this combination of creative talents can amount to something special. As an iconic and longstanding Plymouth wedding venue, The Duke was the setting for the shoot and played host to some of the region’s finest wedding suppliers.

The style brief for the shoot was dreamt up by Meg Hope from Devon-based Mimosa Photography. Meg explains:

Taking their cue from this colour palette, a varied collection of other wedding specialists contributed to the day’s style. The bride’s headpiece is a beautiful bespoke item featuring original vintage leaves. Its creator Janie, from The Lucky Sixpence, describes the inspiration for the design:

Another essential element in a perfectly styled wedding day is the bridal bouquet and flowers. Louise Brumpton from The Secret Garden Flowers stepped up to the mark with a beautifully considered arrangement – she explains:

The gloriously tall and strikingly original wedding cake was the work of Centrepiece Cakes. For Katheryn Talmage, the maker behind the cake, the venue was an important consideration in the design choice. She says:

The choice of wedding stationery is yet another feature which defines the feel of a wedding day. In this shoot, stylish wedding place cards and menus added flair and personality. Again, the detail was carefully thought through, with wedding stationers Anon Design explaining:

These elements and many more contributed to a stunning ‘fantasy’ wedding day – an event which allowed us to showcase some of the talented craftspeople we recommend to couples getting married here.

This display of creative work by Duke’s supplier partners also served to highlight another amazing asset – the stunning setting of the hotel itself. Perfectly captured by Mimosa’s stylish photography, the Duke is shown off in its full splendour. With sensational spaces and abundant historic character, it’s the ideal place for such a momentous occasion. Add to that the hotel’s brilliant range of wedding packages and reputation for excellent service, and the Duke is a simply superb choice as a wedding day venue.

If you’re in the process of planning your wedding, there’s a chance both to experience the Duke as a potential venue and to see the work of a selection of its trusted wedding suppliers for yourself. The Duke Mini Collection will take place on 5th October 2017 and is open to all brides and grooms to-be. Go along and be inspired.
