Fertility & Flow is part of Drawn to the Valley, a city-wide event of open studios and exhibitions by artists based in Tamar Valley and Plymouth. Find a directory brochure in Column Bakehouse Cafe, in which Leyreloup and Toon can be found. The exhibition will be open Friday 1st – Saturday 30th September 2017, free admission. You can find out a little more about the artists below…
Mary Toon:-
“I have been fashioning felt in 2D and 3D form for 15 years now and am endlessly fascinated by the new directions it affords as an art form as well as a craft. It truly blurs the boundary. It also has a great many contributions to make in a sustainable future.”
Tess Leyreloup:-
“I have been living and working within Plymouth as an artist for over 20 years. A recurrent theme within my work is memory and landscape and how the distortion of time and emotional characteristics can affect how we view our landscape environments..My ‘Mind landscapes were inspired by a family member having Dementia. More recent work based on the study of Nature through the Fibonacci series has led me to work in a more 3 -Dimensional way using the media of textiles.”
