Lord Mayor’s Festival

26th May, 2018

Each year, crowds gather at the Plymouth piazza to welcome to new Lord Mayor into their role. This annual event is popular with local residents and as well as an opportunity to meet the Lord Mayor, the event offers families a day packed with activities, live music and a parade.

The following details were provided by the organisers or Lord Mayor’s Day.

Dinosaur fans will have a roar-some time at this year’s Lord Mayor’s Festival. Celebrating the appointment of Plymouth’s new Lord Mayor on Saturday 26 May, this annual event offers the perfect family day out.

Come and meet Tiny, a 125 million years young dinosaur brought to life by the wonders of modern science. You can pet her, you can feed her, you can talk to her in dinosaur language; just make sure you avoid the dreaded Thagomizer or you might end up extinct yourself! Tiny will be appearing in the Piazza where you’ll find a jam-packed programme of entertainment to enjoy during the day, including performances from local community groups.

Young explorers will also love the opportunity to uncover fossils in their own dinosaur dig and learn all about prehistoric creatures in the Science Dome – and don’t forget to follow the dinosaur trail for the chance to win some great prizes.

The following images show Lord Mayor’s Day on previous years and were taken by the fantastic team at One Plymouth.
