Plymouth Literature Festival

21st October, 2017 - 29th October, 2017

Described by the organisers as a ‘literary feast for writers and readers’, this fabulous event comprises of workshops and activities spanning across Britain’s Ocean City. The following information was provided by the organisers of the event. For full details, please click here.

Plymouth Literature Festival was set up by a group of passionate volunteers who wished to fill the gap left open by the absence of the regular festival. Our aim is to create a more engaging Festival that highlights local talents as well as bringing in authors from further afield. We plan to stage a number of diverse events at venues across the city, showcasing how writing can be a valuable means of expression, enjoyment and social engagement.

Our main sponsor is the award-winning house builder Redrow who has provided us with the opportunity to put on a wide-ranging festival. We are also very grateful to our media partner, Plymouth Herald for their support in bringing the Festival to a wider audience. The staging of the Festival would not have been possible without the kind support of our partners at Plymouth Athenaeum. We extend our thanks to Waterstones of New George Street Plymouth, for allowing us to host events within their stall as well as providing our pop-up book stand.

A great deal of work takes place behind the scenes and we extended our gratitude to our Organising Committee: Catherine Allen, Kenny Knight, Owen Ryles, Benjamin Serpell, Sara Elizabeth Smiles, and William Telford.
