Small Business Saturday is a national campaign that supports, inspires and promotes small businesses on the first Saturday in December. The following information came directly from the organisers of the event.
The campaign encourages businesses to promote themselves and work with other small businesses, and to encourage people to ‘shop local’, supporting small businesses and their communities.
Businesses are invited to attend a networking event and meet other local entrepreneurs in Plymouth on Saturday 3 December. The event is being hosted at Zeus restaurant on Cornwall Street from 9am to 10am.
The networking event will be followed by the Small Business Saturday Christmas Fayre. Supporting independent businesses, or individuals that have turned a hobby into an enterprise, visitors can see what Christmassy delights they have to offer.
Businesses selling everything from handmade Christmas decorations and jewellery to Christmas crafts can be found at Frankfort Gate between 10am and 3pm.
There will be Christmas Carols performed by the Sound Council Choir and a special ap-pearance by Father Christmas, Mrs Claus, Rudolph and Elves when they arrive via Land-train at 12pm.
This event is sponsored by Specsavers and is supported by Plymouth’s Federation of Small Businesses and PL1 Events.

For all of you entrepreneurs out there, they even offer start up support for those who are looking to start their own business!
