Evita Launch at The Duke
We were delighted to welcome the cast of Evita to the hotel for their launch photo shoot last week. This renowned musical will be at Devonport Playhouse, Plymouth for one week only from 27th – 30th March 2019 (click here to view Evita in our events calendar). With lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, this show is sure to be a sell out!
The team chose to focus their shoot on our magnificent staircase and in various locations around this historic hotel, making use of an ornate gold mirror and desk (shown below).
We caught up with Plymouth (PGS) Theatre Productions to discover why they chose the hotel as the set for this wonderful shoot.
What made The Duke stand out as the perfect set for the launch of Evita?
“We chose the hotel due to its subtle but glamorous decorations, along with elegant staircase and other features in the hotel. This proved to be the perfect setting to express the story of this famous Argentine icon Evita Perón.”
Did the cast enjoy visiting the hotel?
“The whole cast enjoyed their time in the hotel, where they felt welcomed and comfortable to shoot.”
Do you have a favourite image from the shoot?
“The image of Evita at the top of the stair case, this expresses the true iconic pose that made Evita become so popular and loved by the whole nation.”
