Fashion in the City

Thursday 8th September, 2016|Category: News

The hotly anticipated Fashion in the City event is going down a storm, with afternoon teas all over the city, a fashion foundation exhibition and a fashion pop up in the local library. Why not take a trip on the beauty bus for some free pampering, that’s right, free! The bus will be stopping off at a variety of locations in and around the city, so why not take a well-deserved break from shopping and put your feet up? The students from GHQ and City College Plymouth have been and are continuing to offer a variety of treatments from hair styling to mini manicures, what’s not to love? We might have to pop along ourselves!

Now that you have enjoyed some pampering, how about entering a competition with the chance to win a whole new wardrobe? If so, look no further than the window trail, where six high street shops have teamed together with students from the Plymouth College of Art to design stunning window displays. The winner will receive a personal shopper experience and a voucher worth £250 to spend at Debenhams. All you need to do is find the window displays, as they have already revealed that one of the participating stores is Bon Marchè there are only five to find. The race is on!

For you locals, as well as those of you travelling to Plymouth, you are encouraged to strut your stuff and use the City of Plymouth as your catwalk. Organisers will be looking out for the best dressed person, or people, who stand out from the crowd for all of the right reasons! Keep an eye out for models in and around the City Centre on 9th September to see if you can find them striking a pose in some of the season’s hottest trends. Make sure to share images on social media using #PlymouthFITC. Get snapping!

The grand finale comes in the form of a two-day catwalk event in Drake Circus, Plymouth’s central shopping hub. Taking place over the weekend (10th and 11th September), the catwalk will showcase the very best that high street fashion has to offer for Autumn/Winter 2016. As part of the show, Plymouth College of Art students will display their winning collections with a selection of key pieces that are truly one of a kind. There will be hair and beauty demonstrations running throughout the weekend, making it the place to be for the fashion conscious. This event is not to be missed and will provide you with the tips and inspiration you need to look amazing!
