Frocks, Thrills and Fundraising for Local Children’s Charity
On Friday 11th March, we welcomed back a local children’s charity, Friends and Families of Special Children to celebrate their 11th Annual Ball at the Duke of Cornwall Hotel. Friends and Families of Special Children are a non-profit organisation unique to Plymouth, providing information, support and services for families with disabled children. Described as a “life saver”, the charity provides families with an opportunity to network and create bespoke training and educational environments dedicated to their needs. The ball this year was a Mardi Gras theme…cue the dancing girls, glitter (so much glitter!) and a real snake (some people had to swiftly leave the room)!
Kay O’Shaughnessy – founder of the charity said: “Our Mardi Gras Ball was a huge success and I would like to thank all of the people who came along, supported us and danced the night away! It was fantastic to see so many familiar faces that have attended all 11 of our charity Balls and of course some new comers whom we hope will join us again and spread the word of the vital work we do. It’s always tricky to try to make each Ball a little bit different to the last, but I think we managed that this year, by not only having the amazing Vega Girls, but also stilt walkers and a snake charmer with a real boa constrictor.”
To date the Ball has raised £17,000+ and some funds are still coming in! This money will go on to help so many local families so thank you to all who attended and donated! We can’t wait till next year!
