This February will see the City of Plymouth Youth Theatre Company take to the stage with a performance of Annie. “It’s a hard knock life” when you’re an orphan in downtown New York, especially as it’s 1933 and the middle of the Depression. Annie (Little Orphan Annie from the cartoon strip) is desperate to meet her parents – and to escape from drunken Miss Hannigan who runs the orphanage. She succeeds and gets taken under the wing of billionaire, Daddy Warbucks, changing his life. All the favourite songs are here – “You’re never fully dressed without a smile”, “Easy Street” and of course the all-time show stopper, “The Sun’ll come up Tomorrow”. This is the feel-good musical you won’t want to miss.
