I have always been fascinated by the history behind the hotel and love the fact that it has seen many different styles and eras since opening in 1863. I have loved organising my stylised shoot at the hotel, and capturing two mini wedding collection events. The hotel has gorgeous rooms available for hosting weddings as well as fantastic features for group shots including the listed stair case. The hotels viewing Tower is a really great space for natural photos with big windows all around letting soft daylight in. It also provides a fantastic opportunity to admire the city’s panorama from such a unique spot.

Sean is a passionate videographer with an eye for detail. He is unobtrusive and makes couples feel at ease, even if they are camera shy. Sean is friendly and professional, and discreetly captures beautiful footage throughout your day to create an everlasting memory of your special day. Having hosted his own wedding at the hotel, Sean knows the perfect places to get great shots, and has a real understanding of the layout of the building. The Duke of Cornwall holds so many special memories for me and I feel a strong connection with the Hotel. Both my wife and I had our school proms here, so it seemed only fitting to get married here also. We could not of wished for a better venue for our wedding. The staff were brilliant, the food was excellent and the venue itself had such charm and character. As a videographer the ornate style of this iconic marvel, situated in the heart of Plymouth never fails to take my breath away. I know all of the footage I get here will look amazing and that makes my job a whole lot easier. When we think of Plymouth we think of Smeaton’s Tower sitting proud on Plymouth Hoe. For me, the lighthouse is only a close second to The Duke of Cornwall and it’s beauty, standing just as proud and with the elegance to match.

We love working with Kim as she is so friendly and offers a complete boutique experience. You will have the shop to yourself whilst you try on her vast array of wonderful dresses. Kim will make you feel at ease and give as much, or as little input as you would like. All of her gowns are reasonably priced and of the highest quality. Having got married at the Duke herself, Kim and her lovely husband Paul make perfect partners of the hotel.

We are very lucky to work with The Duke of Cornwall Hotel, not only because of the wonderful memories of our own wedding here, but because of the very friendly and welcoming staff, who are also very attentive and professional and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. We love working with Flourish, and Francesca is always professional, friendly and full of ideas. Flourish have everything a heart desires for wedding venue décor and silk flower arrangement. Flouish provide seasonal flower arrangements for the hotel, so we can vouch for how gorgeous the arrangements are. Flourish have also stylised many of our photo shoots and have showcased their work at our wedding collection events, transforming the Dukes wedding breakfast and evening reception rooms. Flourish provide everything to add the wow factor to a wedding, including LOVE letter lights, chair covers and ostrich feather centerpieces.

I supply the quarterly flower arrangements for the Duke of Cornwall and love the freedom the Hotel allow me to get creative with my florals. The grandeur and backdrop of the venue always makes the arrangements look extra special and it’s a pleasure to supply them.  I have also done several mini collections at The Duke of Cornwall which I love doing and Flourish styling items such as the LOVE letters and our gorgeous gold sequin runners never fail to look fabulous in their wonderful reception room. Two things that really stand out as to why we love working at The Duke of Cornwall is firstly the amazing ballroom. Being a huge 1920’s fan I love the classic character this room oozes. It is a really good size too. And secondly feedback from our logistics manager Jim about the staff was very positive. He said they helped him carry items and couldn’t fault a thing about them.

Maisie is the perfect balance of friendly and professional. She makes her clients feel comfortable and at ease, and is perfect at achieving the flawless natural look as well as more dramatic styles. Her bubbly nature and high attention to detail make her a pleasure to work with. Maisie’s skills are highly recommended, and she is sure to make you feel amazing on your big day!

The Duke of Cornwall is elegance at its finest. A stunning location to work and to stay. The spectacular history behind the hotel gives it an incredibly grand and luxurious feel. Gem is not only a fantastic makeup artist, she is also the perfect person to have around on the morning of your wedding day. Gem is very hands on and has been known to help the bride in to her dress, and gets stuck in with whatever needs doing once she has finished the makeup to ensure that the bride has less to stress about! Gem is highly trained and can create any look, but she is also great at advising what style would work best for you. Gem is very friendly and professional, and uses the best products to create a flawless finish for the bride and bridal party.

The Duke is always such a wonderful venue to visit and to work, not only because I have fond memories of having my own wedding reception here but also because the staff are friendly and attentive and nothing is too much trouble for them. They understand that all couples are individual and want something unique for their special day, and they work with a variety of suppliers to help a vision become a reality. The hotel itself is superb and I am fascinated by its history and styling, my favourite place in the whole hotel has to be the Tower Room, from here you get a 360 view of the City and it feels magical. I hope that I will continue to work with The Duke for many years to come.

April is a very talented hair stylist, with an eye for creative designs and a high end finish. I am not quite sure how she does it, but the styles she creates hold in perfectly all day. From the classic bridal look to a more alternative vibe, April is the perfect person to book to style your hair for your wedding day. April is so laid back yet professional – she will ensure that your getting ready process is enjoyable and full of friendly chat.

The Duke of Cornwall is a beautiful grand hotel, the staff are welcoming and nothing is too much of an ask. I love working at The Duke as I always feel at ease and part of a team. The views from the Tower room are breath taking, there are not many places you can sit warm and comfortably and gaze for miles over Devon and Cornwall. As for the interior it speaks for itself, it’s full of charm and history and lends itself to be a fabulous classy venue. We have had the honor of working with Charlotte on a number of projects, and each time she exceeds expectations! Her artwork is truly beautiful, and the way she paints a live interpretation of your wedding throughout the day is genius. The end results are stunning. I’ve drawn live caricatures at a number of weddings and wedding fairs at the Duke of Cornwall Hotel and it’s a truly special place. The staff are incredibly organised, professional and welcoming and their expertise at hosting weddings and events is clear to see. The building is grand, luxurious and perfectly situated for couples from both Cornwall and Devon, the 2 most popular areas I cover. I’ve only got good things to say about the Duke of Cornwall and I love drawing there. There’s plenty of room for me to set up a caricature area drawing guests either in the bar area, in the main function room, and even mobile at the table, or a combination of the above – it’s a great venue to work with.

The Wedding Game brings something completely new to the table – literally – and it’s a great way to get your wedding reception off to a cracking start. It is a unique game made specifically for each couple, and a perfect way to break the ice and get all guests chatting. Each card contains a question about the couple, the correct answer and two spoof answers. A head shot of the couple are also featured on each card, making them a perfect keepsake or a wedding favour for your guests.

Crown Entertainment are a fantastic local company providing everything from first class Live Entertainment, to Letter Lights, stunning LED Dancefloors, DJ’s and so much more. The Carlton Big Band is a 10-15 piece guaranteed to add a touch of class and glamour to your big day. The band charts a wide selection of hits including Glenn Miller, Stevie Wonder, Phil Collins and Frank Sinatra to name just a few. The Carlton Big Band provide an opulence of a bygone age, and will be sure to entertain your whole wedding party. The band, fronted by the wonderful Elaine Davies, plays a wide variety of instruments from saxophones, trombones, trumpets, keyboard and drums, as well as offering vocals.

Carlton Big Band love working with the Duke of Cornwall because it’s opulent grandeur is a perfect foil for the Big Band, and together the glamour and ambient sophistication of a bygone age is realised. With vintage theme weddings becoming so popular today, the attraction of having such a grand and beautiful ballroom is really appealing and the sweeping staircase is perfect for a bride to show off her dress. A bride and grooms special day is remembered forever, and The Carlton Big Bands programme can be tailored to suit vintage theme’s for a Great Gatsby 1920’s Filmstar theme or Sinatra style Rat- Pack theme or 40’s theme, pleasing all age groups and ensuring the whole family have a memorable day. 

Roger is a fantastic musician, and we love when he plays the Grand Piano in the entrance at the Duke. Roger has a portal Baby Grand which can be used in different areas, and makes his services available for smaller ceremonies in our ceremony rooms located on the second floor of the hotel.

As a supplier I have always been made to feel welcome and part of the great team that is at the Duke. The Grand Piano in the reception is a delight to play and it’s always great to be at Plymouth’s most established hotel and wedding venue.

We believe that all our couples should arrive at the hotel in style, and CDEC can certainly provide a luxury fleet of cars for the whole wedding party. They offer a variety of cars to suit different styles and tastes, with friendly service and a high level of professionalism. Their cars do look stunning parked at the end of our red carpet outside of the hotels entrance, ready for a show stopping arrival.

We love arriving at the Duke of Cornwall hotel and access is great as we can drive right up to the door that is laid with a red carpet right down to the car door. Photo opportunities are excellent as the background is purely of the historic building with our vintage cars in front.

We have had the privilege of working with Antony at our wedding collection event, and his services were essential to adhere to tight timings and schedules on the catwalk shows and performances throughout the day.
