Our Historical Brochure shows the many changes that the Duke has seen over the last 153 years. For 53 years Walter Combstock has played a huge part in the exterior and interior that you all see and enjoy today...we thought it was about time that we introduced you to the creative mind behind the refurbishment of the hotel.
Walter, (or Wally as he is known to his friends), has been an integral part of the Duke's rich story, being part of the hotel for such a significant length of time, it has become a big part of him which is why he takes it's restoration so seriously, professionally and lovingly.

On the 24th April, The Duke of Cornwall Hotel played host to Nigel Voisey' s Titanic and White Star Line exhibition - highlighting the connection between Plymouth and the infamous Ship.
Firstly, we have to say we were completely amazed by the number of people who arrived for the event, clearly the story is far from forgotten and this event was about keeping the memory of those who lost their lives alive. At The Duke of Cornwall Live last year we offered every couple the chance to win a Vintage Experience with us and on the 16th April we welcomed our winners, the beautiful Jess and her handsome husband-to-be David to The Duke of Cornwall Hotel, for a Vintage Experience before their wedding day.
To start their day they were picked up in a classic Rolls Royce provided by The Windsor Carriage Company and chauffeur driven to the hotel.
